Ramsey Lake Salt Issue Ramsey Lake is in the Ramsey Lake Watershed and there is significant concern with respect to the increase in salt levels in the lake due primarily to the use of road salt to clear roads around the lake during the winter season to melt snow and ice. The Minnow Lake Restoration Group filed an appeal against development of the Kingsway Entertainment District due to the large 3,500+ parking spaces that would be required and the subsequent amount of salt runoff into the watershed .. submission here. Latest scientific date indicates that holding ponds recommended as mitigation measures to prevent salt from entering the environment do not "work" see this report here. Dr. John Gunn of Laurentian University Living with Lakes Centre responds to recent report from the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario about rising salt levels in Lake Ramsey and the threat to the environment. https://youtu.be/RERkpUwVtGQ The Minnow Lake Restoration Group held a special public meeting to consider threats to the Ramsey Lake Watershed.
